Professor Montri Chulavatnatol was born on July 28, 1942, in Bangkok, Thailand. He completed his undergraduate study with First Class Honors in Biochemistry from the University of New South Wales in 1966, under a Columbo Plan Scholarship from the Australian government. He later received scholarships from the Rockefeller Foundation and finished his master’s and doctoral degrees in Biochemistry from the California Institute of Technology in the United States in 1971. Afterwards, he worked at the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University for 30years. until his retirement. He has published over 57 research articles in international journals, authored several textbooks and academic papers. After his retirement, he continuously contributed to various activities that benefited the society and the nation.
Throughout his career, he has held several executive positions such as Head of Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University from 1976 to 1980, Deputy Director of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) in 1992, Vice President of Mahidol University from 1994-1995,President of the Science Society of Thailand under the Royal Patronage from 1994 to 1997 and member of several committees of universities, as well as local and international organizations such as President of Science Council of Asia and Chair of FAOBMB Fellowships.
Professor Montri Chulavatnatol has received several awards in recognition of his significant contributions to the science community such as the Senior Scientist Award from the Science Society of Thailand, the Senior Chemist Award from the Chemical Society of Thailand, the Benefactor Award in the field of education and academia from the Office of the Prime Minister. Mahidol University has awarded him with Emeritus Professorship in 2001 and Doctor of Science degree (Honoris causa) in 2016 for his distinguished academic and research achievements.
The Professor Montri Chulavatnatol Scientific Pitching Award seeks to foster effective science communication skills and raise awareness of the significant impact of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) on society. This prestigious award aims to provide students with a unique opportunity to showcase their work and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field.
To be eligible for the Professor Montri Chulavatnatol Scientific Pitching Award, participants must be students who have been accepted to present either oral or poster presentations at the 9th BMB conference. Interested students are required to follow the application process outlined below.

Video Submission Guidelines for the BMB Scientific Pitching Award 2025
We invite you to submit a video presentation as part of your application for the BMB Scientific Pitching Award 2025. Please follow the guidelines below to ensure your submission meets our requirements:
1. Video Content
Duration: Create a video that is 3 minutes long.
Focus: Your presentation should showcase your research proposal.
Visual Aid: You are allowed to include one page of supporting material, which can be in the form of an infographic or a PowerPoint/Canva slide.
Presentation Requirement: Ensure that your recording features a visible speaker window, allowing you to be clearly seen throughout the video.
2. Video Upload
Platform: Upload your video as an unlisted video on YouTube or a similar platform.
Title Format: Please title your video as follows:
“BMB Scientific Pitching Award 2025_Your Full Name”.
3. Submission
Include the link to your video in the application form.
Final Selection:
Up to eight nominees will be selected to deliver their final presentations during the 9th BMB Conference 2025. Selected nominees will be notified by email.
The final award presentation will take place on 16 May 2025. Each participant will be allocated 3 minutes to present the societal impact of their work, followed by a 2-min question-and-answer session. Participants are allowed to employ tools such as PowerPoint slides or objects to augment their presentations.
